For agency buyers

The Queensland Procurement Policy 2026 (QPP 2026) commences on 1 January 2026 and represents a significant transformation in Queensland Government’s procurement approach.

The QPP 2026 ensures every procurement dollar delivers maximum impact for Queenslanders through:

  • introducing new ways to leverage procurement data
  • a heavy focus support for small and family-owned businesses
  • red tape reduction and transparency.

The refreshed policy balances rigorous ‘value for money’ principles with broader economic, social and environmental outcomes, underpinned by 5 strategic pillars that outline the key outcomes areas across Queensland Government procurement decisions:

  1. Value for Queensland: Deliver value for taxpayers money and ensure fair and open competition
  2. Local opportunities: Create opportunities for local suppliers, with an emphasis on small and family businesses and regional enterprises, wherever practical
  3. Easy to do business: Simplify procurement processes to make it easier for suppliers to do business with government
  4. Open to new ideas: Encourage innovation and new market-driven approaches to solve challenges faced by government
  5. Practical economic, environmental and social impact: Drive sustainable procurement practices and build a diverse supplier base including support for social enterprises and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses.

These pillars work together to ensure every procurement decision reflects government’s commitment to maximising value for taxpayers'’ money while supporting broader non-cost objectives, priorities and commitments.

Agency buyers play a critical role in bringing this vision to life through their:

  • daily decisions
  • engagement with suppliers and stakeholders
  • commitment to excellence in everything they do.

The policy provides the framework, but it is the expertise, judgment and dedication of buyers that will determine the ultimate success of Queensland's procurement transformation.

  • engage actively with the support and development opportunities available
  • contribute to the continuous improvement of Queensland's procurement practices.
