Wristband registration
Registrations for 2025 Safer Schoolies wristband will open midway through 2025. Follow us on Facebook or Instagram to stay up-to-date with details on when you can register.
There is something for everyone at Schoolies week with Safer Schoolies Beach Hub entertainment, DJ sets, RnB nights, live bands, and more!
The best part of all is that it’s 100% free to attend. You do not need to purchase anything. All you need to do is register for your free official Safer Schoolies wristband to gain entry.
To register for a wristband, you must be a genuine year 12 school leaver. Wristbands cannot be purchased and are not transferrable. Every Safer Schoolies wristband includes an ID chip that is unique to you and contains your information. Wristbands that have been damaged or tampered with are void and security will be checking.
A school leaver is defined as:
- A student completing year 12 or equivalent from an Australian education institution.
- An individual who was due to complete year 12 and has chosen to undertake alternative learning pathways from an Australian education institution for 20 hours or more per week is considered a 'Schoolie'.
- An international student who has completed year 12 in an Australian education institution, as an exchange student, qualifies for a wristband if they are able to produce their Australian year 12 school photo identification card or equivalent.
Safer Schoolies wristbands are not linked to accommodation bookings. You cannot use your hotel lanyard to access the Safer Schoolies Beach Hub. You do not need to book accommodation or stay in Surfers Paradise to get a wristband. If you are staying elsewhere, with friends or family or live on the Gold Coast, you just need to register and collect your wristband.
The schoolies Hub is open for the full week of schoolies from 7pm till midnight. We have two main stages that you can go and attend. We've got DJs playing every night on Tuesday night. It is a little bit more of a lowkey night for those who might be feeling a bit overwhelmed we've got a silent disco. We've got live bands and we do have a glow party.
You do need to make sure that you have a valid wristband. Register beforehand. It just makes the whole process a little bit easier for you. So to be able to collect your wristband on the day you can bring the QR code that you will receive once you have registered online and also making sure that you are bringing a valid you12 student ID that has photo ID so we can identify that you are the person you say you are.
Collecting your wristband
Once you have registered you will need to collect your official Safer Schoolies wristband from the Wristband Centre during opening hours. If you cannot attend during these hours, you will have to wait until the following night to access the Wristband Centre.
Safer Schoolies wristbands will not be mailed to you. You must collect them in person, and they cannot be collected on behalf of someone else.
What you need to bring
You will need to bring your registration QR code and year 12 photo ID to collect your wristband.
If you registered for a wristband but did not receive an email with your QR code, please:
- Check your junk/spam folders.
- Ensure your mailbox is not full (many iCloud email addresses bounce as they are full).
- If you have checked the above but still have not received an email with your QR code, please contact us directly at SaferSchoolies@housing.qld.gov.au.
School ID requirements
In order to collect your Safer Schoolies wristband, you need to provide proof you are a genuine year 12 school leaver.
You will need to ask your school for a letter (on official school letterhead) confirming that you are a 2025 year 12 school leaver and bring this and your photo ID to the Wristband Centre.
You will need proof you graduated year 12 in the year you are attending Schoolies week. This can be a letter from your school (on official letterhead). You will also need to log onto the Queensland Curriculum Assessment Authority (QCAA) to prove your enrolment for the current year. These documents and an official photographic ID (e.g. drivers licence or passport) must be brought with you to the Wristband Centre.
You must provide a letter either from your state’s Department of Education (on government letterhead) or from your home-schooling network that states you are a current year 12 school leaver. This letter and an official photo ID (e.g. drivers licence or passport) must be brought with you to the Wristband Centre.
The only way you can get an official Safer Schoolies wristband is if you are still studying (e.g. TAFE or a registered apprentice) AND you can prove you would have graduated year 12 in the year you are attending Schoolies week. You will need to do all the following:
- Provide a letter signed by your Australian Registered Training Organisation (on company letterhead) stating that you are registered as an apprentice or attending TAFE.
- Prove you would have graduated year 12 in the year you are attending Schoolies week. This can be your most recent student ID, or a letter from your previous high school on official letterhead.
- Prove your identity using an official photo ID (e.g. drivers license or passport).
If you have left school and are working but are not undertaking any further study, you can join your friends at the Gold Coast but will not be able to register for a wristband or gain entry to the Safer Schoolies Beach Hub. There are other parties and events run by commercial providers during Schoolies week you may be able to attend. You will need to contact them for further information about ticket sales and entry requirements.
Replacement wristbands
Replacement wristbands can only be handed out under exceptional circumstances, such as needing to remove your wristband for work. You will need to bring the original wristband back to the Wristband Centre to be allocated a new one. If you do not bring your original wristband, you will not be given another one and will lose access to the Safer Schoolies Beach Hub.
