Construction and jobs
Queensland is a great place to live and as our population grows, so too does the demand for housing and associated services. It is important that we invest now in preparation for future demand.
The $1.8 billion Queensland Housing Strategy 2017-2027 will deliver more social and affordable housing across the state and transform the way that housing services are delivered, to better support people in need and create a pipeline of development opportunities for local trades and builders.
The Housing Construction Jobs Program will help address the State’s long-term housing needs by supporting and accelerating new construction and precinct development.
We are also transforming the way that housing services are delivered to better support people in need and offer more early intervention and prevention services.
As at 31 May 2020, the Housing Construction Jobs Program has supported over 1,500 full-time equivalent jobs since the inception of the program.
